Worle Quarry

Worle Quarry is the oldest Quarry in the area - it begain in 1802 as the Parish Quarry. 

Mortar was produced at the Quarry until 1965. It then produced Concrete blocks till its closure in the early 1990s.Owned by Sage and Down.

The Quarry is now a Business Park

 

 

Also around Worle and Worlebury minning was in operartion, the area was a good for source for Clamine, Lead and Yellow Ore. 

A mine shaft was discovered near the Kings Head pub in the 1950s, waste from the mines was also found when building the Maltings in the 1970s.
