The New Inn - Name changed to The Woodspring

The New Inn was built by 1811 and its landord was Joseph Leman.

1841 Census shows that William Biggs is publican, inquests and auctions were held at the pub. 

The pub was ran by the Whitford family for many years.

During WWII ARP lectures were held at the pub and it become a depot for gas mask fittings and a scrap metal dump.

2014 - Scott Hicks and Becky Oldfield.

2016 The pub was revamped into a Carvery House by Frank and Paul Sprackman and their team (this is when it was painted grey and white). 

2021 - Closed - Currently empty

The Golden Lion

The pub is first mentioned in 1878, 1881 Census shows Joseph Gill as Inn Keeper.

During WWII Mr Lickes was landlord.

The Old Kings Head

This orginal pub building was re built in 1909 after this one was destroyed by fire - Photo from Weston Library. 

It has been run by the Board family since the 1990s. 

Previous Landlords have been the Wyatt family, the Cook family and the Wilcox family. 

 

 

The Lamb Inn

Believed to date back to 1620

By 1881 it was ran by Temperance Lancaster.

Arthur Pope was landlord in the 1950s he was related to the Wyatt family. Arthurs wife took over the pub with help from the Wyatt family.

It was then taken over by Sean and Dympna Slattery for over 21 years.

In 1989 it was taken over by Courage Brewary. 

 

The (Old) Manor Inn

Opened as a Pub and Motel in 1981.

 

The Nut Tree

 

Opened as a pub in 1975 - perviosly a farm ran by the Tripp Family. 

2018-2025 Landlords Stuart Mottram and Terry Reynolds.

Closed July 2025 and re-opened October 2025. 

 

 

 

The Observatory Pub

Opened in 1996 by Banks Brewary.

 

The Nightjar opened in Meadvale April 29th 1979. First Landlords were Sid and Marion Norton.

Di Bradley become landlady in 2003. Di bought the pub from Hall and Woodhouse in 2015.

The pub closed in 2024. 

 

The Parish Pump opened in 1980.

 

The Summer House opened in 1990.
